New Leader Elected in Closely Contested Election of Kongor Youth Association.
In a closely contested election, Samuel Maketh Lual has been elected as the new leader of Kongor Youth Association in Juba.
Samuel Maketh Lual [550] won by a narrow margin, defeating Daniel Deng Ajang Kuer [540] by just ten (10) votes.
The election was held on 23rd July 2023 and was seen as a success on the current leadership's performance.
Samuel Maketh Lual campaigned on a platform of good service, promising to address the association's different
challenges and how to improve them.
Samuel Maketh Lual 's victory is a surprise to many, as Daniel Deng Ajang was considered to be the frontrunner in the race.
However, Samuel Maketh Lual was able to mobilize a strong grassroots campaign and mobilized many voters that led to his victory.
In his address to KYA, Samuel Maketh Lual pledged to promote unity in KYA and work with all members to improve the association.
